Top 5 Things To Do When You’re Having A Bad Day
Having a bad day happens to us all. It’s inevitable that the somedays aren’t going to work out how we want them to. However, it’s how we react to these situations that counts.
I like to see the positives in every situation I am faced with, even if at the time it feels impossible. This can be difficult to stick to but I honestly truly believe everything happens for a reason. Viewing the positives in every situation is like minimising the effect that will ripple through your life. If I decide to let a bad day affect me this could have a negative impact on several areas of my life, myself, family, friends, my business and associates. Starting to view situations that are negatively charged in a calm, collected way while trying to find positives will contain the effect it has on your life.
Below are 5 things I like to do if I’m having a bad day:
Journaling is one of my favourite activities. It is so cathartic, allowing your brain to splurge every thought on to the blank pages. The mental clarity you gain from doing this is unreal. I have sorted a lot of complicated situations out by journaling. It allows you to see everything so clearly. It is also a good way of recording progress made in life and business.
2: Meditation / Mindfulness
Meditation and mindfulness are very de-stressing, allowing you to let go of negative energy and channel positive energy. Even if you only have time for 5 minutes in the morning, this is so beneficial for gaining a positive mindset. I do this as part of my daily routine, it has been effective for dismissing mind chatter for me.
3: Be Grateful
Having a difficult day can sometimes put us into ungrateful mode, if I feel myself slipping down this path it’s time to reach for my notebook and write at least 10 things I’m grateful for. This can put the bad day in to perspective because the bigger picture and what we have is actually very positive.
4: Get Inspired
I love getting inspired! To get that creativeness flowing again puts me on top of my world. Sometimes, I do get overwhelmed and situations can seem bigger than me. That’s part of the fun on an entrepreneurial journey. However, getting inspired by listening to podcasts or reading books by amazingly influential people allows me to get creative and helps me feel like I’m not alone is this big wide world trying to follow my path.
5: Self-care or “Me Time”
I love taking time for myself, I think everyone needs this! I like to pamper myself with facials and having my nails done. It just makes you feel amazing and it’s perfect to destress.
Everyone will deal with bad days differently but I hope I have inspired you to try some new ideas if you don’t already practice them.
